United Services Portsmouth minis kick-off the season with a tournament at Alton

4th October 2026

United Services Portsmouth (USP) RFC Under 7's, Under 8's, Under 9's and Under 10's headed to Alton RFC on Sunday 4th October for the club's first tournament of the season.

For our Under 7's and Under 8's, the tag rugby matches provided an opportunity to practice their passing, finding space, and working together against other clubs, building confidence and enjoying being part of a team.

It was a milestone for our Under 9's, taking part in their first tournament with tackling. Putting their training into practice marked an exciting step in their rugby journey, with safe technique and growing confidence central to their development.

Our Under 10's also faced new challenges, experiencing scrums, rucking and mauling in tournament rugby for the first time. These new elements gave players the opportunity to develop their teamwork and learn how to support each other in contact.

Across all four age groups, the focus was on learning, teamwork and enjoying rugby together, with plenty to build on throughout the season.

Thank you to Alton RFC for hosting, our coaches and volunteers for supporting the players, and all the parents an carers cheering from the touchline.
