Why join USP?
What we offer
Find the right team at USP
Age-grade rugby guides players from their initial introduction to the sport until they transition into the senior game.
A player's specific age group is calculated based on their age as of midnight on August 31st at the start of each season. For ease, we provide school years as a reference. Should you have any questions regarding the correct team placement, reach out and we will clarify that for you.
Minis (Under 7 to Under 11 / School Year 2 to 6)
Fun, age-appropriate rugby focused on movement, handling, confidence and teamwork. Players begin with non-contact tag rugby, with controlled contact introduced from Under 9.
Juniors (Under 12 to Under 16 / School Year 7 to 11)
Boys’ and girls’ rugby begins to follow separate pathways. Players progressively develop their positional and team skills, moving towards the full 15-a-side game, including scrums and lineouts.
Colts (Under 17 and Under 18 / School Year 12 and 13)
The final stage of age-grade rugby, developing advanced skills, game understanding and physical readiness while supporting the transition into senior rugby.
